FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHERE DO AFMX SCREENINGS AND EVENTS TAKE PLACE?

Our 2023 festival will be a live presentation of our selected films with film screenings, music performances, and CenterStage Conversations at different venues in the Nob Hill district of Albuquerque.  To learn more, visit Event Venues | Albuquerque Film & Music Experience | Albuquerque (afmxnm.com)

HOW DO I BUY PASSES AND TICKETS?

Visit 2023 Festival Schedule & Passes | AFMX (afmxnm.com) where you can choose Festival Passes, Day Passes or Individual Tickets.

Our Festival and Day passes are all access to the Film Blocks, Center Stage Conversations and After Parties.

The difference between the two passes is the Day Pass is only for one day of your choosing.

HOW DO I GET THE LATEST INFORMATION?

Sign up for our monthly newsletter and follow us on social media.  All social media links can be found on our home page and at the bottom of every website page. Special announcements, promotions, and giveaways are always shared on these platforms.

ARE THE FILMS RATED?

Many of our films have not yet been reviewed by the Motion Picture Association of America and therefore do not have an MPAA rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17).

We encourage our audience to read the film descriptions before purchasing, especially for our Animated and Music Video blocks. If you have questions about whether it is appropriate for those under 18 years of age to view, please email our Filmmaker Liaison, Kira Sipler for more information at kira@afmxnm.com

Yes!  Our Block #1 Student Films and Block # 7: Special Screening of Invisible Corp are free.

If an event is free, do I still need to reserve a ticket?

Yes!  Some of our venues have limited seating capacity so we ask patrons to reserve a ticket.  While it's less an issue at the Lobo Theater, our smaller venues appreciate knowing how many will occupy their space.

Are there refunds?
Please contact info@afmxnm.com for information.

My promo code doesn't work. What do I do now?

YES. We encourage students to attend so we provide free entry to any Film Block or Center Stage Conversation.  BUT you still need to reserve a ticket.  Here's how:

  • Name of school

  • ID number

  • Which blocks you'd like to attend

We will send your tickets for each event. Please bring your student ID along with your ticket to the door.

TRAVEL AND LODGING

How easy is it to get to the Festival?

Believe it or not, ALL of our events (except our special screening of Invisible Corps: In Service of Health) take place along the original Route 66, otherwise known as Central Avenue!

All After Party venues and Film Theaters are walking distance from each other.

Our host hotel is on the corner of Broadway and Central, within 2 miles of the Lobo Theater.  There is a direct bus route, Route #66 that travels on Central Ave. Here is the link for this bus:  Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque Downtown to The Historic Lobo Theater - Google Maps

Are there places to eat, drink and grab a cup of coffee?

Absolutely!  This is one of the fantastic aspects of the Nob Hill District of Albuquerque. Close to the University of New Mexico, Nob Hill offers a variety of restaurants, coffee houses, cafes, and night life. Check out our Dining Page for a list of our favorite restaurants.

Better yet, our main theater and after party venue, The Historic Lobo Theater offers food and drink.

Our second theater venue, The Guild Cinema has a great concession stand.

M'tucci's Bar Roma also offers food and drink.

Tractor Brewery offers only drink BUT there is a great hamburger eatery, Phat Stax, next door that Tractor welcomes outside food.

2023 PITCH PANEL

Is there a fee to submit my pitch?

Nope. Go to our Pitch Panel webpage, complete the form and follow the rules.

What are the rules and how do I submit?

Visit our Pitch Panel webpage for all the information you could need!

Is there an age limit to submit a pitch?

We love and encourage students 17 and older to submit their pitch.

Can I watch the pitch panel if I haven't submitted a pitch?

Absolutely, in fact we encourage it!  This CSC is included in your Festival or Day Pass. It's $10 for an individual ticket.
