Thank you for teaming up with the Albuquerque Film & Music Experience (AFMX)!
AFMX is gearing up for the 2022 Virtual Film Festival, September 13 to 18, 2022! Our sincere hope is to expand to a hybrid model, offering limited in-person events. If we move to a hybrid event, all volunteers and festival participants must be fully vaccinated and present their proof of vaccination cards to AFMX staff.
AFMX takes the safety and wellbeing of the volunteers and festival participants seriously and will continue to adhere to COVID regulations and health guidelines. We remain cautious and hopeful for a hybrid event and will continue to monitor the progress of COVID regulations and update you accordingly.
We are planning our needs for the virtual festival so stay tuned for more updates. There are year-round opportunities to volunteer at events that are presented quarterly, along with the main festival in September.
VOLUNTEERING FOR AFMX FESTIVAL :
Although returning volunteers are given the first selection of positions, we welcome applications from new candidates.
Apply online at any time during the year. The application deadline for the main festival in September is September 1. You must be 18 years of age or older.
Once your application is submitted, you will receive an email or phone call from our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss volunteer opportunities.
We are currently looking for the following positions:
FILM SCREENING TEAM
Currently, AFMX is recruiting volunteers, filmmakers, and cinephiles for our 2022 film screening team. Thanks to our dedicated film screeners last year, we were able to view over 200 films worldwide and present over 60 short and feature films, documentaries, music, and animated videos from around the world.
As a film screener, you will be responsible for:
viewing all submissions
providing brief feedback of films
contribute the voting process to select which films are selected for the 2022 festival.
Our FilmFreeway submissions will open on January 15 and will close on May 15, 2022. All films must be viewed by May 15. Our screenings are paramount to our film selection process in May.
Screening Team members will watch and review all submitted entries to the Albuquerque Film & Music Experience via FilmFreeway.
Screeners will make recommendations regarding the acceptance of films to the festival, utilizing a rating system to judge each entry.
We ask our screening team to provide feedback on every film. AFMX judges rely heavily on our screening team's assessment of the films to help create the fall programming and awards ceremony. And yes, we read all the notes, so please be honest, professional, yet succinct in your feedback on why or why not to recommend a film for AFMX programming.
Filmmaking experience or set experience is not required but certainly beneficial.
Utmost professionalism and discretion while participating as a film screener.
To become an AFMX Screeners, please :
1) complete the AFMX Volunteer Form on this page.
2) determine your time commitment. Our hope is to view as many films at the beginning of the year and as they are being received to avoid any last-minute screenings. We ask screeners to screen at least 80% of the films, if possible. As a guideline, we suggest screening and judging at least 2-5 films a week. Of course, you are more than welcome to screen as many films as you’d like!
