There are year-round opportunities to volunteer at events that are presented quarterly, along with the main festival in September.
VOLUNTEERING FOR AFMX HYBRID FESTIVAL :
Although returning volunteers are given the first selection of positions, we welcome applications from new candidates.
Apply online at any time during the year. The application deadline for the main festival in September is September 1. You must be 18 years of age or older.
Once your application is submitted, you will receive an email or phone call from our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss volunteer opportunities.
Venue Managers – will be responsible for all operations on-site at theaters, the host hotel, and assigned events. Will communicate with the venue staff to assure proper procedures and protocol are being followed in accordance with the AFMX contract. Assure venue operations and communications with venues are proactive and on spot. In charge of ushers and ticket scanners, information and merchandise kiosks at theaters, projectionist at the venue, assuring smooth flow between movie blocks, concessions, volunteers handling microphones for Q&A’s and volunteers
who are introducing movies and thanking sponsors. Requires strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage a small team of dedicated volunteers. Walking and some lifting will be required.
Panels, Centerstage Conversations and Workshops Manager – Will manage all panels, Intimate Conversations, and Workshops during AFMX. This individual will be in communication with Albuquerque Film & Music Experience panelists leading up to and during AFMX, oversee Audio Visual requirements necessary for each program, coordinate green room, water stations, and refreshments for panelists. Requires strong organizational and communication skills. Walking and some lifting will be required.
Signage Coordinators – Will work with the Marketing and Venue Managers to manage signage and proper placement at all AFMX venues. Walking and some lifting will be required.
Marketing Materials Distribution Team – Responsible for delivery and grassroots distribution of marketing materials such as posters and postcards to specific organizations, retail outlets, community bulletin boards, and sponsors who will promote AFMX events. Walking or reliable transportation required.
Ushers and Ticket Scanners – Responsible for being at AFMX venues to work the doors and assure proper credentials or tickets are presented upon entry to each event. Must have a strong sense of customer service, a positive attitude, and great communication skills. Walking and some lifting will be required.
Green Room Volunteer – Will work closely with Venue Manager to ensure food and drink are available for the VIP Green Room. Must have a strong sense of customer service, a positive attitude, and great communication skills. Walking and some lifting will be required.
Registration and Merchandise Coordinator – Will assist Venue Manager with checking in all AFMX participants, providing directions, and general customer services. Will also assist in the sales of t-shirts, hats, water bottles, and any other merchandise to be sold at venues. Must have a strong sense of customer service, a positive attitude, and great communication skills. Sitting and some minor lifting required.
Movie Ambassadors – Dedicated individuals who have a passion for one or more selected films in the festival to actively promote the film. Required to have individuals who are excellent at promoting and targeting market and community. The goal is to fill venues at every opportunity.
Photography Team – Photographers to shoot highlights of ALL of the events at AFMX.
