There are year-round opportunities to volunteer at events that are presented quarterly, along with the main festival in September.
DRIVE-IN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
All Drive-In Movie Volunteers receive incentives, including:
food and beverage
discounts to local merchants
After 3 completed shifts, volunteers receive a free drive-in movie ticket for the movie of their choice.
After 5 completed shifts, volunteers receive an AFMX gift certificate for $25
After 10 completed shifts, volunteers receive an AFMX Virtual Festival Pass
Work shifts are 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm on Friday and Saturday nights. The parking lot opens at 6:30 PM. Lot closes and Pre-Roll begins at 7:30 PM. The film begins at 8:00 PM. Volunteers can work one or both days over a variety of different weekends.
All volunteers will receive safety vests and flashlights for their shifts. Volunteers are asked to work the entire shift to help with the setup and tear down of the drive-in. Volunteers must be comfortable walking in a parking lot to monitor ticket holders. There will be some light lifting, walking, and standing involved but we work as a team to make sure we all help each other!
We are currently looking for volunteers for the following positions:
DRIVE-IN MOVIE TEAM
Handles all aspects of setting up our 24 ft projection screen for optimal viewing experience. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., walk ladder, handle rope, observe safety measures and work on top of the truck trailer to help attach the screen. Safety gear will be provided.
A/V Projector Team
Responsible for setting up and tearing down the AFMX equipment (laptop, projector, and sound transmitter). Will need to troubleshoot for any audio or video issues. Previous computer and A/V experience helpful but we are happy to train!
Responsible for providing customer service to ticket holders upon arrival, assuring proper credentials and tickets when gates open, and directing attendees towards parking attendants. Assists team with setting up/tear down of parking lot signage and volunteer room. iPhone is required to access our Eventive ticketing platform.
Drive-In Lot Attendants
Directs vehicles to designated parking spots, ensures COVID 19 social distancing protocols are adhered to, provides service as needed. Assist with set up and tear down of parking lot signage. Must be able to lift a traffic cone and signage to set up drive-in movie signage. The desire to get their 10K steps in is a definite plus while working a traffic light directing cars is a definite plus!
Volunteer Green Room Attendant
Oversees and maintains the volunteer safety equipment, arranges volunteer refreshments, ensures all volunteers sign in for their shift, are provided safety equipment (vest, walkies, flashlights), and directs ticket holders to restrooms.
Drive-In Lot Manager
Oversees the coordination of all drive-in positions to ensure parking lot safety and customer service. Actively recruits volunteers for AFMX Drive-In movies weekend movies. Conducts 1:1 interviews and training and scheduling for all volunteers. Will be responsible for database management, filing, and volunteer communication. Computer skills, attention to detail, strong interpersonal details are a must! Previous volunteer experience a plus but moreover, the desire to build a team is most desirable.
VOLUNTEERING FOR AFMX FESTIVAL :
Although returning volunteers are given the first selection of positions, we welcome applications from new candidates.

AFMX CORE TEAM
Works closely with the Director of Operations, Creative Director, Marketing Consultant. Must be familiar with sales, media outreach (both local and national), creative marketing solutions, press releases, distribution, and follow-up phone calls to assure press release information is covered in print, on radio, television, and the web. Will also help with marketing materials distribution
Social Media Manager
Target marketing of films and events across all social media platforms leading up to the fall festival. During the festival, promoting events day-of, live feeds from events and promotion for next day’s events. Manages all social media accounts for AFMX such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn before, during, and after events. Is proactive to create meaningful posts to engage and interact with the AFMX audience and its potential creative collaborators. May oversee others assigned to assist with social media.
