Through hands-on experiences of all aspects of film production; life skill lessons for personal and planetary harmonious living; exploring local and global intercultural traditions that deepen the understanding of the connectedness of all life forms; field trips for unique experiences; and ongoing individual and collective storytelling projects; each participant will have the necessary tools to create a final short film of significance.

The cohort meets weekly and by week five will name their production company. The curriculum is cumulative building from personal identity to world service. Included is the understanding that artistry and creativity exists within all people in various forms of demonstration and we are meant to and equipped to express our highest visions and potentials in a multitude of areas.

The majority of the sessions are facilitated by the artist in-residence, however, an essential component of the curriculum includes guest experts leading workshops representing all areas of independent and commercial film production; literary arts; visual arts; community activism; holistic living techniques; and other specialized professionals across a broad-spectrum of topics. Intentionally, workshop guests range in age from peers to elders.

The goal is for participants to garner new information and explore an abundance of themes for individual knowledge and wisdom, as well as engaging in exchanges of ideas within the cohort and beyond that supports ongoing curiosity and unencumbered creativity. Ideally, participants will form a lasting community and learn to successfully collaborate and support each other’s creativity and empowerment in expansive ways.

Our initial gathering will be a celebratory get acquainted mixer including a personal revelation ice-breaker, one-on-one get to know each other opportunities, refreshments, and music. AFMX board members will share the ideology and purpose for this initiative. Miriam Ray, benefactor and world citizen, will be introduced, and young adult participants will offer ideas and envisioning for this journey.
