ABOUT AFMX
AFMX is one of my favorite festivals to attend! They really go above and beyond to make their filmmakers feel welcomed, connected and special. With lots of great networking opportunities, cool venues, and their absolutely wonderful festival organizers and staff, AFMX is one of the best festivals to be in! - Emma Swider, Filmmaker
AFMX: A HISTORY OF HARMONY
Founded in 2013 by Past Executive Director, Ivan Wiener, with the support of Robert Redford and Sibylle Szaggars-Redford, the Albuquerque Film & Music Experience (AFMX) has become a significant force in New Mexico's creative economy.
Our Mission
AFME Foundation connects creativity to opportunity. Through film, music, education, mentorship, and industry access, we empower emerging and established creators—especially the next generation—to develop their voices, build professional pathways, and create sustainable careers while strengthening New Mexico’s creative economy and communities.
Our Vision
To make New Mexico a nationally recognized creative-economy hub where talent, opportunity, education, and industry come together—empowering the next generation of filmmakers, musicians, storytellers, and creative professionals to build meaningful careers and a thriving future.
