AFMX announces it will open its first screenwriting competition for its September 2024 festival. The competition is open to New Mexico residents only. Screenwriters can submit their work through FilmFreeway, from March 18 to August 15, 2024.

With a consistent five-star rating on FilmFreeway, AFMX continues to provide an exceptionally unique experience for filmmakers and audiences in 2024 and looks to expand opportunities for its New Mexico screenwriters.

Semifinalists will be notified by August 30, 2024, and will receive a complimentary all-access Festival Pass to the Spotlight Event, which runs September 25-29, 2024. Winners will be announced at the festival awards ceremony, on Saturday, September 28.

“Our New Mexico content creators are looking for more opportunities to share and improve their work, as well as network for support. Watching our annual pitch panel grow over the past two years, I’m hopeful AFMX can provide up-and-coming screenwriters and producers more opportunities to submit original works as well as pitches to film industry executives and producers,” Kira Sipler, Executive Director.
